That's right, Lyric and I were on the news! Lyric, Marianna and I are The Colonnade public relations representatives.
Lyric planned a world record breaking attempt hosted by The Colonnade. We were attempting to have the most people playing rock, paper, scissors at one time. The record to beat was 793. Lyric did an outstanding job of publicizing the event. Flyers were everywhere. Press releases turned into newspaper articles that slammed the stands in Macon and Milledgeville. One news station actually asked us to come be on their morning news show! (Check it out here.)
Channel 41NBC invited us onto their 6 a.m. show. We sluggishly woke up at 4 a.m. and drove to Macon. The cast warmly welcomed us as they prepped us for questions and showed us around the news room. It was so cool. We got to sit in the producers room as the show was being aired. They explained all of the controls, and we got to see a news show in action.
When it was our turn to be interviewed, Lyric and I sat quietly in the chairs as we whispered our prepared answers to one another. When the cameras started rolling, Coreen Savtaski carried on a casual conversation with us. She was comfortable and easy to talk to, as if the cameras were not even there.
Lyric and I were able to tell people about The Colonnade's world record breaking attempt.
A major part of public relations is communicating with the media.
