Climate change--there's nothing I can do. WRONG!
The average global temperature has been slowly changing over the last decade, and scientists predict it will continue to change. A slight change here and there probably won't affect anything, but if these small changes continue to add up, they will begin to affect the climate.
One cause in the global temperature change is cars. "The vehicles we drive release over 1.7 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, contributing to global climate change," fueleconomy.gov said.
If every little bit helps, giving up our cars for a week could make a huge impact. I know that sounds crazy, but it could be possible. Here at GCSU our college campus is bike accessible. Students ride their bikes and walk all the time.
As a public relations student, I think proposing a campaign to Beat the Heat, Free the Street would raise awareness and get college students involved in the climate change movement.
We would designate a week to Beat the Heat, Free the Street. Everyone would be encouraged to walk or ride a bike to class. If students or faculty live far away from campus, they could park in the commuters lot and carpool on the shuttle bus to campus. We would have posters and flyers everywhere reminding people that every little bit helps. We would also have a speaker on front campus one day to inform students and faculty about climate change. If people know they can help prevent climate change, they will be more inclined to do their little bit.
I think it is important to let people know how they can make a difference. Climate change is such a big issue that people feel small and powerless. There are many small things people can do to help. We just have to tell them what they are!

Great idea, as long as no one rides on the sidewalk.
